ITP/IEP Continuing Education Workshops

Wizdom Education offers three Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) approved Professional Development Activities through which teachers can earn Continuing Education Units (CEU) and/or Continuing Professional Development Units (CPDU). Workshops include presentation, practice, feedback, case studies, small group work, and technology application. Wizdom workshops are based on the national staff development movement to integrate training with on-the-job performance.

WORKSHOP 001
Teaming with (not against) families and community service providers

• Help keep parents and service providers essential members of your team. Learn how to draw them into the transition process.
• Gain confidence leading the IEP team so that the transition plan reflects the student’s needs, preferences and interests.
• Get a clear picture of how transition planning directs the
• IEP - and instruction - for high school students.
• Prepare for a transition planning IEP meeting so that parents, students, and service providers know their role and expectations.

This workshop supports Illinois Teaching Standards for teacher knowledge and performance for collaborative relationships.



WORKSHOP 002
Letting future hopes guide present decisions

Capture your students’ dreams and translate them into time-and action-specific transition plans. Through this workshop you will:

• Get a clear picture of how IDEA97 affects transition planning.
• Help your students (and their parents) answer the “big question,” in preparing for adult life.
• Practice using TeachersAides to address all the issues.
• Create transition plans that best suit your students.

WORKSHOP 003
Using the Web to manage IEP forms

Two tracks are available: Track One: Completing IEPs on the web is now. Get your feet wet using technology by trying out an easy-to-use web-based IEP forms management computer program. Practice using TeachersAides to address all the issues.

Track Two: Get technology working for you - and keep it from cutting down your time with your students! Gain comfort and competence using your school-provided IEP system through custom technical training from Wizdom Education.
