| Why Web-Based Technology Meets Transition Needs |
 |
Anyone who's ever tried to manage many or even just
one Transition plan knows that the task may seem
daunting. In today's busy environment, educators,
service providers and parents are scrambling to balance
the quality of the education provided with amount of
paperwork involved.
"Case Managers and Administrators are grinding through
the issues of Transition Planning, trying to help
students figure out complex life questions," says Dennis
E. Wisnosky, Wizdom Founder. "Web-based technology
can offer a guided yet personal road-map for these
tough decisions."
With the right mix of product and process, Web-
based
Technology can:
- help students (and their parents) recognize and
deal with the issues of, "What do I want to
do?" "Where do I want to live?" "What do I want to do
in my free time?" (the latter issue includes - "How do I
want to be involved in my community?")
- set up practical multi-year transition plans that help
students meet their goals.
- cut the time required to research the important
local 15-25 community service providers, and yet
appropriately connect to the providers as needed.
- through Wizdom EducationLive! (www.educationlive)
automatically connect case managers, students and
parents to community service providers with an
assurance that the school district has the most current
information about the service providers available.
- meet the needs of students, parents, and schools'
obligations, without an undue burden on already time-
challenged case managers and vocational coordinators.
Wizdom Education has developed the Wizdom
Transplanner, to bridge the gap between technology
and student need. Via the internet, Wizdom
TransPlanner automatically develops Individual
Transition Plans (ITP) for students with disabilities.
Currently, three Illinois School districts are using the
Wizdom Transplanner, with more to follow.
